We’re excited to formally introduce Pooneet Kant as the newest addition to Spark’s Board of Directors.
I knew I had to work with Pooneet the first time we met. In one short meeting, we discussed the theory of the Medicare industry's evolution, the biggest strategic levers we could pull for the business, and tactical operating questions in need of immediate answers. This was only possible because of the breadth of Pooneet's perspective — and the fact that he's one of the few people who talks even faster than I do.
Pooneet comes to Spark with over 10 years in product, strategy, and go-to-market leadership. An influential people leader, he spent the last decade at Uber and Compass, two category-defining companies that quickly became some of the fastest-growing startups of the time. His passion and skill for redefining categories through digital transformations make Pooneet a perfect fit for our board.
Transforming old-school businesses into digital powerhouses
Similar to insurance, the transportation and real estate industries are not tech-native. These industries were born far before the internet boom, and in many cases are still dealing with disjointed workflows, manual data entry, and slow systems processing. Like Spark, Compass wanted to redefine the real estate business by empowering the agents who go above and beyond for their clients.
At Compass, Pooneet and his team helped:
- Open 200+ offices and grow agent count from 1,000 to 30,000 on their way to becoming the #1 national brokerage by dollar volume
- Win agents over by championing a culture that is collaborative and ethical (and maintaining this culture as they grew)
- Enable agents to work more efficiently while increasing their earnings

Expanding markets at rapid pace
At Uber, Pooneet helped lead market expansion, growing from 50 markets to over 500 during his tenure. Pooneet specifically focused on launching what was, at that time, a new business model, UberX, across markets in the central U.S. His expertise in scaling at speed will be invaluable to us as we expand to the Pacific Northwest, Tennessee, and beyond in 2025.
Preparing for another year of exponential growth
As we get ready to kickoff the next fiscal year, we’re grateful we’ll have Pooneet advising us every step of the way. He’ll provide invaluable insight on how to keep pace with our rapid growth, while staying true to our brand and culture. I’m excited for him to meet the rest of the Spark team and our agency partners so we can start working together towards our 2025 goals.
